Emergency and Trauma
At Mercy’s ER, you will immediately be seen by a caregiver, and shortly after that, treated by a physician. Our "No Wait" policy means that within minutes of your arrival, you're on your way to healing. All this, while consistently achieving extremely high patient satisfaction.
Facts about Mercy Medical Center's Emergency Department:
- Level II Trauma Center and Pediatric Emergency Department designated by the State of Illinois.
- One of only 6 hospitals in the state of Iowa and the only one in the Dubuque area to have at least one board certified ER physician available 24 hours a day.
- Nursing staff holds credentials in advanced training as Certified Trauma Nurse Specialists, Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Trauma Nurse Care Curriculum.
- Responds to more than 2,000 cardiac cases annually.
- Supports 50 ambulance service providers with medical direction and continuing education within the Tri-state region.
- Helicopter services for in- and out-bound patients of Mercy Medical Center.
- Provides medical direction, leadership and education to Illinois Emergency Services as a designated Resource Hospital by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Permission to Treat Your Child at Mercy
