Joint Camp

Mercy's Joint Camp is a program for patients who are undergoing joint replacement. It focuses on wellness and healthiness, while satisfying the goals of joint replacement surgery - improving mobility by relieving pain, improve the function of the joint, and return each patient to an active lifestyle, free of pain, as quickly as possible. Mercy’s Joint Camp is a team effort involving orthopedic surgeons, surgical nurses, occupational and physical therapists, dietary staff and operating room staff.

  • Prior to admission to the hospital, patients attend a training session where they view a video and receive information on what to expect before, during and after their joint replacement surgery.
  • Patients are encouraged to have their spouse or a concerned person involved as their coach. All patients benefit by having someone who can be their coach once they are home.
