The Bioness System
Help for Foot Drop and Hand Rehabilitation
Patients who have foot drop or hand disability due to stroke, traumatic brain or spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, or other neurological issues may get relief with the Bioness Foot Drop System and Hand Rehabilitation System. Therapists in Mercy Physical Rehabilitation and Medicine are now providing therapy to support use of these systems.
Through electrical impulses, the Foot Drop system stimulates muscles to lift the foot, creating a more natural walk and increased speed and stability. The Hand Rehabilitation System can increase hand and wrist range of motion and function, allowing grasping and releasing of objects. Both devices can prevent muscle loss, increase blood circulation, and reeducate muscles to function without the system.
