Inpatient Rehabilitation

CARF_Seal_144px.jpg Providing you with comprehensive rehabilitation has been the goal of MercyOne Dubuque's Acute Rehabilitation Unit for over 35 years. Our inpatient rehabilitation staff has been helping individuals live their lives to the fullest despite disabilities caused by trauma, illness, neurological deficits or disease.

At MercyOne, patients and their families participate in a team treatment approach where the patient is the center of care. This unique treatment is individualized by our interdisciplinary team and focuses on your individual goals.

We are proud that our MercyOne Dubuque inpatient rehab unit has been accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) since 1989. CARF accreditation means our programs meet the highest standards in quality, safety and outcome measures, which provide risk-reduction and accountability in our patient care.

Family Involvement

Family conferences are held on an as-needed basis by the social worker. Progress is reviewed along with goal setting, discussion on length of stay, discharge planning and any questions or concerns from the patient or family members. The entire team is available for family conferences and may be requested at any time during a patients stay. Families are often encouraged to take part in orientation, rehabilitation education, therapy sessions and training, and enjoy unrestricted visitation.

Insurance Coverage

Medicare and/or private insurance will cover most services offered during your rehabilitation stay as long you meet the continued admission and continued stay criteria. The medical director will make the decision regarding if you meet criteria but it is always subject to review from Medicare and/or insurance. In some cases, Medicare and/or insurance may need to be verified prior to admission, and prior authorization will need to be obtained.
