Programs
Aspire
Staffed by the professional team in the Mercy Service Club Autism Center, Aspire aims to help small groups of high school or middle school students increase functional social skills in age-appropriate settings. Any young person who may benefit from improved social interactions is welcome and encouraged to register. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Dubuque Racing Association. Autism Training Series
The Autism Training Series consists of six, 2-hour sessions, one night per month. These training sessions are for anyone whose life is touched by someone with autism and wants guidance on how to improve interactions. Sessions will focus on communication, friendships, sensory problems, behavior, visual support/technology, and food selection. Camp Mercy
Camp Mercy is a six-week summer therapy program where children are able to maintain and continue to build motor, speech and language skills over the summer. Sessions are under the direction of a licensed occupational therapist, licensed speech-language pathologist and behavior specialist. Common Social Interests (CSI)
In collaboration with Dubuque Leisure Services, the Mercy Service Club Autism Center offers a new program for young adults, ages 18-30 years. Each week, CSI participants will take part in various activities and community outings including movies, dinner, bowling, art classes, sporting events, etc. Locations will vary. Eating Assessment and Therapy Services (E.A.T.S.)
The E.A.T.S. program is an eating therapy for small groups of children who have a restricted food repertoire. The program integrates sensory, oral-motor, behavior, learning, medical and nutritional factors, and is led by a transdisciplinary team consisting of an Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Pathologist, Behavior Specialist, and Dietician. - Ongoing assessment of progress and challenges
- Speech/Language services to promote communication across environments
- Behavioral support services to promote appropriate social and interpersonal interactions across environments
- Occupational therapy services to promote sensory integration, emotional regulation, and improved fine motor skills across environments
- Consultation to educational and residential environments when indicated
