About Your Surgery

You will receive specific instructions from your physician before your procedure, but here are some helpful tips to consider.

  • Arrange for a responsible adult to drive you to and from the hospital. If you do not have someone to drive you home, your procedure will be rescheduled.
  • What to bring to the hospital
    • Driver's license
    • Insurance card
    • Medicare card
    • Medication insurance card
    • List of allergies and current medications
    • A case for contact lenses, eyeglasses, hearing aids or dentures
    • Toiletries and other personal items if you will be staying overnight
    • CPAP or BiPAP if you use one and will be staying overnight
  • Leave all valuables, jewelry and money at home. Jewelry (including wedding rings and body piercing) will be removed prior to surgery.
  • For your convenience, MercyOne Dubuque Home Medical Equipment and MercyOne Pharmacy are located on the hospital's first floor.
